Taylor Yard Equity Strategy Milestone Timeline

MILESTONES: Celebrating Progress Together

Over the past few years, TYES has achieved critical momentum, moving from foundational research and listening sessions to public commitments, culminating in the release of our first major Progress Report in September 2025.

This report is the fruit of three years of deep listening with Northeast LA residents and collaboration among nonprofits, academic partners, and public agencies. It reaffirms that cross-sector partnerships are essential to success and presents the community’s blueprint for an equitable future.

As we enter 2026, we’re honored to share the timeline of key milestones leading up to the release of our progress report.

TIMELINE OF MILESTONES

Funding Secured and Project Launch (2021–2022): TYES launched in 2021 with $190,000 in seed funding from the City of Los Angeles, following a City-led process to identify a nonprofit partner to lead a community-centered equity strategy alongside the 100 Acre Partnership. In 2022, the State of California awarded $1.5 million to LA ROSAH to advance this work and ensure continuity.

Critical Partnerships Established (2021–Present): From its inception, TYES has been designed as a partnership among government agencies, nonprofits, and community-based organizations.

LA ROSAH was selected in late 2021 to lead the initiative, working in close collaboration with the 100 Acre Partnership, which includes the City of Los Angeles, Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, and California Department of Parks and Recreation.

Core strategic partners include Mujeres de la Tierra, Clockshop, LA Más, and the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, whose deep listening, research, and organizing have shaped the strategy over time.

Key Public Support (2024): Los Angeles City Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez (CD1) championed the TYES initiative. She demonstrated her commitment to housing stability by supporting the opening of the Northeast New Beginnings interim shelter in Cypress Park in January 2024, which addresses the needs of the unhoused community and aligns with broader equity efforts.

Progress and Park Investment Milestones (2025): In the same month that TYES released its first Progress Report, the ribbon-cutting for newly upgraded sports fields at Río de Los Ángeles State Park celebrated an $11 million public investment, signaling a continued commitment to pairing park development with equity, access, and community benefit. The project, which involves upgrading sports fields and other amenities, is led by the City with support from California State Parks.

Strengthening Governance and Capacity (2025): To guide the next phases of TYES, the formal TYES Oversight Committee structure was finalized. This nine-member committee is responsible for setting and implementing the initiative’s strategic goals.

The committee includes:

-Three representatives from the LA ROSAH Collaborative,

-Three representatives from the 100 Acre Partnership agencies,

-Two community representatives (appointed by LA City Council District 1 and LA County Supervisor District 1),

–And one research representative from UCLA.

Furthermore, the LA ROSAH team expanded its capacity by welcoming new staff. A Program Director joined the team, contributing extensive experience in coalition-building and community advocacy. The initiative also hired a Communications Coordinator dedicated to helping the organization effectively craft its story and reach its audience.
